Sarah Hixon:
Writer & Illustrator

About Sarah Hixon:
Hi i'm Sarah, a writer and illustrator based in rural North Shropshire. My work focuses on lived-experience, positivity and inclusivity, often combined with escapist fantasy.Having always had a keen interest in writing, I studied my Creative Writing degree at John Moores university in Liverpool. Since leaving I have become a published poet, created a number of successful zines and collaborated with Cath Garvey on the Alien Agency series. My illustration is a more recent but natural extension of my creative world, having found myself doodling thoughtout my life to help me stay awake, I now use illustration to both support my writing, and to create standalone pieces.Since being diagnosed with Narcolepsy, I found that traditional work was impractical due to both my requirements for sleep throughout the day and the risks of falling asleep on public transport. I find that creative work is a perfect solution that provides me with an expressive outlet and can fit around my needs.
